Program Director – Full Time

Summary/Objective

Provide administrative direction to Summer Camp, Afterschool, and Intersession Programs at New Hope Camp and Conference Center. This includes the administrative management and coordination of a variety of functions including finance, budget, personnel, space and facilities planning.

Essential Functions:

Design and implement programs to encourage an intellectual, creative, artistic, and athletic enrichment and abilities.

Supervise all staff associated with programs. Discuss performance concerns with individual staff and provide coaching and counseling when appropriate.

Hire summer staff to include counselors, counselors-in-training, lifeguards and afterschool staff.

Design and facilitate detailed pre-summer and ongoing training for all staff. To include planning and participating in activities.

Schedule summer staff during the camp season and afterschool school during academic year. Partner with the Water Safety Instructor on lifeguard scheduling. Address problems as needed.

Plan summer staff weekly meetings during the camp season. Review camp rosters and ensure correct staff to child ratio. Review dietary restrictions for campers.

During summer camp season create and manage all operational procedures to include check in and out for campers, t-shirt ordering and distribution.

Develop the annual program budget and monitor expenditures during year. Partner with Executive Director to make changes as necessary.

Assist in the planning and implementation of a daily program which will meet the needs of the children in attendance; set up program, project, and activity areas as needed.

Interact with children in an effort to build self-esteem and form a comfort level with their peers.

Work with camp registrar on the annual afterschool handbook and policies. Review current bus routes and registrations with camp registrar and make changes as necessary.

Assist in all opening and closing camp operations. Assist with camp maintenance tasks as needed to ensure health and safety. Regularly monitor program areas to ensure cleanliness and safety.

Act as a liaison for parents and assist in conferring with parents regarding student performance and behavior as necessary.

Partner with the Camp Registrar to develop and implement a public relations agenda to promote student enrollment and communicate the objectives and activities of the after school program.

Participate in special events as necessary.

Facilitate Teambuilding with retreat groups as needed.

Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Attention to detail, strong communication, and problem solving skills

Graduation from high school and twelve months experience.

Knowledge of  methods and practices of child enrichment, child behavior and supervisory skills preferred.

Strong oral and written communication techniques.

First Aid and CPR techniques.
